Name: Ryuko
Age: 4 years
Breed: Andalusian Cross
Gender: female
Height: 15.2hh
Appearance: Standing at 15.2hh, Ryuko is not a large equine, although she still packs a punch. For the largest part she resembles an Andalusian, bearing a noble head, deep chest, sloping withers and powerful hindquarters. Her legs are reasonably short and clean, with slightly more feathering that one would expect on an Iberian breed. Her mane and tail too are relatively thick and wavy. With her height included, it would not be a far-fetched guess that Ryuko’s roots hark back to a pony breed. She has a small head and delicate ears, with eyes so dark they could be mistaken for black. Ryuko is buckskin, though her colour resembles a mousier hue than most, with darker mottling on her neck and shoulders which darken in the colder months. Her points reach up to her knees and hocks, and she has darker pigmentation round her muzzle, though not as dark. Ryuko has no other markings save a scar under her left eye.
Personality: Ryuko’s personality on the surface proves relatively simple; fierce and stubborn. Though subdued until pushed, she has no qualms about saying what she thinks, though it often gets her into trouble. Her determination is rarely broken and at times Ryuko can become reckless with her decisions, though her loyalty to those she loves can help her change her mind almost instantly. For a mare who usually appears strong and fearless, she can become self-conscious in front of the opposite sex, almost to the point of extreme embarrassment, which she grapples with through anger. Her limited knowledge of family life can also leave her helpless in herd situations, where she prefers to be an outsider. Secretely Ryuko longs for a life around others, though her guarded pride rarely allows her tough exterior to crumble.
History: There is little to be said about Ryuko’s history, as she has merely just left her infant years and still has much to see of this world. The most poignant facts of her past are few which makes her such an enigma – she has very few memories. Ryuko’s mother died shortly after giving birth to the filly, though fortunately she was not alone. Long had been the tradition in her sire’s herd that if mares were pregnant together they would foal at a reasonably close distance, so soon enough, Ryuko was found with the remains of her dam. She was a sickly foal, as expected, and lived literally off the kindness of another mare in the herd who had also born a foal that season. Ryuko soon became a favourite of her sire’s, and as the old stallion descended into what many believed was madness she stuck by her remaining parent when others in the herd left. That was until he was brutally murdered, the details of which remain largely unknown. Since that day, Ryuko has more or less lived the life of a lone wolf, searching for answers of her own identity.
