Snowflake had followed the stallion here, to this beautiful lake. Her new home. Yet she did not know his name and he did not know hers. And so only a day had passed in her new home and she sought out the large stallion. Hopefully they could bond while exploring the territory. She did know that she was the only one of his mares, at least she thought she was. He could hide each of them in a different place but what would be the point of that? So she assumed for now that she was the only one. She caught the scent of the black stallion and whinnied to him, calling. She then stood waiting, wondering whether he would answer, and even if he did how he would respond to her request. madiebeau

I hold a beast, an angel, and a madman in me. - Dylan Thomas F E N R I R He has become rather unceremonious in his age. Perhaps, he has spent too much time alone and has forgotten the duties that come with keeping trinkets. In years past, Fenrir would have driven his newest addition home rather than allowing her to follow him. But, Snowflake seems obedient enough. He guides her to the lake at the center of Wildwood Hollow. She is only the second horse to lay eyes upon it, at least within their lifetimes. He says nothing, leaving her to drink her fill and rest. Fenrir slips into the trees to ponder over the voice he heard before he was swallowed up by the lake creature. “The debt has not been paid.” he echoes quietly to himself. His face is furrowed in thought, his ears achingly awaiting the return of that strange voice, but it does not come. Instead, only a day after their arrival, the pale mare calls for him. His trance is broken, and, luckily for her, so is his frustration. He finds her where he left her. It pleases him when his mares do not stray. He comes to her, though this time he is not so eager to cow her towards his home. Here in the Wildwood they are safe from prying eyes and competition. Here, she can be no one else's but his. He closes the distance between them, offering his nose to her to exchange breath. “I suppose names are in order.” he says while their noses are still touching. He pulls away to look at her, eyes as red-black as his hide study her for a moment. “I am Fenrir.”

The large stallion came not long after she had called and she stood still as he approached. He stopped in front and stretched his muzzle towards her. She met it with her own and they exchanged breath. He spoke then, and afterward pulled away and Snowflake watched him, curious. He told her his name and "Fenrir," she said, testing it out. It was an interesting name. "I am Snowflake."
She pulled back then and swung her head towards the woods, a silent entreaty to walk together. Then her head swung back to him, gauging his reaction. She did not know that she was on potentially dangerous ground, for Sweetfire was unlike some others, but Snowflake did know that she shouldn't make Fenrir angry, though before she had had no real experience with other stallions. Indeed only four stallions had been known closely by her in her life. There was her father, whom she barely remembered, Sweetfire her first mate, Little Star, her beloved colt and now Fenrir. So, without much previous experience in talking to strangers, Snowflake watched his face and waited for an answer from her silent entreaty.
